Covid-19 Statement from the practice

From 19th July we will see the removal of almost all of the covid-19 restrictions.  We have discussed patient and staff safety and our infection control measures in practice and taking into account the continued increase in covid cases Rydings Hall Surgery will retain, for some time yet, the infection prevention and control measures that have been in place since the start of the covid pandemic.  This does have an impact on service delivery due to the additional time required for this. It is the right thing to continue to work in this way.

Our first line appointment model will continue to be a telephone/video consultation, on the day with some pre-bookable, with an appropriate clinician.  The clinician will determine and advise the patient if a further face to face appointment is required.  Please do not attend the practice if you have covid symptoms, are awaiting the results of a covid test or have been in close contact with someone who is covid positive.

The clinicians and staff at the practice will continue to keep you safe by wearing the appropriate PPE for the foreseeable.

We ask that all patients over the age of 12 attending the practice for information or an appointment wear a mask whilst in the surgery.

As you will be aware, the government has now announced that anyone over 70 who has not yet been vaccinated and would like to be should contact the NHS to arrange an appointment.

COVID-19 vaccination programme update

How to access your COVID-19 vaccination status through the NHS App.

You can access your COVID-19 vaccination status through the free NHS App from 17 May. You can access the app through mobile devices such as a smartphone or tablet. Proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status will be shown within the NHS App. We recommend that you register with the app before booking international travel.

By calling 119.

If you do not have access to a smartphone and know that the country you are travelling to require COVID-19 vaccination status, you can call the NHS helpline on 119 (from 17 May) and ask for a letter to be posted to you. This must be at least 5 working days after you’ve completed your course of the vaccine. We expect the letter to take up to 5 working days to reach you.

The letter will be sent automatically to the address registered with your GP. The 119 call handler you speak to will not be able to see your address to check this with you. If you’ve recently moved house, make sure you’ve given your new address to your GP practice before calling 119.

Please don't contact your GP surgery about your COVID-19 vaccination status. GPs cannot provide letters showing your COVID-19 vaccination status.

Following extensive trials, the first safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine has been approved in the UK and the NHS is starting to offer vaccinations to those at greatest risk from COVID-19.

The first vaccinations are being offered to people in the priority groups identified by the Joint Committee of Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), starting with people aged 80 and over.  Groups of GP practices are working together to provide local vaccination services and will contact eligible patients when it is their turn.

When it is the right time for you to receive your vaccination, you will receive an invitation via the phone or through a letter either from your GP or the national booking system.

We know lots of people will be eager to get protected but please could we kindly ask you not to contact the practice for information about the vaccine or to ask for an appointment, as you will not be able to get one until you receive an invitation.

If you are invited for a vaccine, please act on your invite straight away and make sure you attend your appointments when you arrange them.

In the meantime, please continue to abide by all the social distancing and hand hygiene guidance, which will still save lives

Pfizer BionTech Vaccine

The Pfizer BionTech vaccine has now been approved for use and the NHS will be starting to offer this to priority groups as soon as supplies arrive.  Initially, it will be only be available at a few hospital hubs where it can be stored safely and it will be offered to those most at risk of Covid-19 first.

When further supplies or alternative vaccines become available, they will be offered from a number of different locations to make sure everyone who needs a vaccine is able to get one. We will share these details with patients as soon as they are confirmed.

Please could we kindly ask you not to contact the practice for information about the vaccine as there is not currently any further information available and it may stop someone who needs urgent medical help getting through to us.
